Manchester United have agreed terms with Torino defender Matteo Darmian ahead of his proposed £12.7m move to the Premier League, with the fee potentially rising to £14.4m depending on his performances.
It is believed the Italy international has agreed a four-year contract worth around £30,000 a week with the player set to be officially presented during a news conference on Friday.
Having missed out on Dani Alves after the Brazilian decided to extend his stay at Barcelona, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has identified Darmian as the man for the job. The Red Devils were also linked with Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne but opted against a move, allowing Liverpool to swoop for his signature.
Darmian can also play at centre-back though it is the right side of the rearguard where he has most impressed.
